How to Search for Longer Articles
(February 6, 2006)

When doing news research, you're usually looking for the most relevant articles, and sometimes you'll find relevant articles that are fairly long.  Essentially, a longer article can often provide in one document what it might take six relevant, yet shorter, articles to accomplish.

LexisNexis does in fact offer you a way to find these longer relevant articles by allowing you to restrict your search according to word count using the LENGTH Segment.  Please see the example below:

SEARCH: Hlead(Vioxx) and length>3000

The number indicates the word count in the article. You may also refine your search for documents of specific length (use =) or a smaller length (use <). You may also want to consider using the ATLEAST command in conjunction with the LENGTH segment.
