Track Legislative and Regulatory Developments with Legislative Impact® and Regulatory Impact™ from Potomac Publishing Company®

In July, LexisNexis released Legislative Impact® and Regulatory Impact™ from Potomac Publishing Company®. LexisNexis entered into an alliance with Potomac Publishing Company that allows us to exclusively provide access to this content.  Legislative Impact will allow you to track how federal laws impact one another.  Easily retrieve information that will show amendments to a law, how it impacts existing laws, and how pending legislation is affected. Regulatory Impact performs the same cross-referencing functionality for regulations.

There are many easy ways to search for impact documents from Potomac Publishing. Several different methods are listed below.

From the Potomac Publishing page, click on Legislative Impact.:

  1. Enter the name or partial name of an Act.  Ex.: patriot
  2. Enter a citation for a Public Law.  Ex:  107-56
  3. Find the Legislative Impact for an entire title of the U.S. Code. Click the drop- down next to U.S. code and click submit. This will bring up all of the sections for that title. Click on one of those sections to see all amendments.

From the Potomac Publishing page, click on Regulatory Impact:

  1. To browse by agency make sure the radio button is checked for agency, and simply click submit. All agencies will then be listed. Click on agency to see a list of actions by date.
  2. To browse by CFR title, make sure the radio button is checked for CFR title, and simply click submit. Click on the title and then the part # to see a list of actions by part #.
  3. Find a regulatory impact document by citation. Ex:  click the drop-down next to CFR cite and choose Title 21. Enter in part 101 in the citation field. This will pull up a list of actions to part 101.

You may also enter a citation for a Bill, Public Law, Private Law, Resolution, Statutes at Large, U.S. Code or Federal Register citation at the very top of the page using “Get a Document.”
