Reed Elsevier Launches New LexisNexis™ Brand, Logo and Expanded Global Focus for Global Legal and Information Business NEW YORK, NY, May 10, 2001 - In a move that unifies its legal and information resources under a single brand, Reed Elsevier’s legal division today announced the launch of LexisNexis™ as a masterbrand encompassing its worldwide legal operations and products. Effective immediately, LexisNexis represents the Reed Elsevier plc legal and information operations in 21 countries and all of its legal and information products marketed worldwide. Andrew Prozes, CEO, LexisNexis Group, heads the New York-based organization. “Reed Elsevier is a global company with a wide array of legal and information products marketed under different names which also serve as the business identity in various countries,” Prozes said. “To reach an increasingly global marketplace and meet its needs, we have adopted a worldwide brand. With our new LexisNexis brand, we have created a family of products with worldwide name recognition.” The LexisNexis Group comprises four main operating units:
Prozes said that a global branding team took a fact-based, strategic approach in establishing the new brand by talking with hundreds of customers in markets covering over 90 percent of global revenues. Hundreds of employees worldwide also gave specific input. “Customers have told us that we have a strong family of brands and a rich heritage on which they are based,” he said. “Going forward, our goal is to associate those attributes more closely with the LexisNexis brand so that they represent our strengths in every market in which we do business. We are therefore beginning a phased migration to the LexisNexis brand.” The following visual changes are taking place with the launch of the new brand:
