LexisNexis Voted Favorite Legal Research Tool
Influential Tech Attorneys Group Honors LexisNexis with Three Major Awards

DAYTON, OH, April 15, 2002 - LexisNexis™ has been voted the Favorite Legal Research Tool by The TechnoLawyer Community, an online network of e-newsletters in which legal professionals share information and experiences about legal technology. LexisNexis, which has been an innovator in Web-based legal research, was recognized for its achievement during the group’s fifth annual @ Awards presentation April 11, 2002. In addition, the influential group named HotDocs®, a LexisNexis Solution, and LexisNexis Automated Forms their Favorite Document Assembly/Automation Solution and Favorite Legal Forms Solution, respectively.

The TechnoLawyer awards come on the heels of recent milestones in which the legal and business community have weighed in with a strong vote for LexisNexis and its highly regarded online research service. In February 2002, the company surpassed the two million searches in a single day mark, further solidifying the company’s position as the global leader of legal, news and business information services.

“These important awards, combined with the two million searches milestone are a dramatic illustration of our customers’ confidence in LexisNexis as their indispensable partner in Web-based legal research,” said Lou Andreozzi, president and CEO, North American Legal Markets for LexisNexis. “These are the professionals who use our products everyday and who – through hands-on experience – understand the value of delivering authoritative information through easy-to-use technology that gets the job done. We appreciate their commitment to us and thank them.”

The influential TechnoLawyer Community comprises over 6,900 members. These attorneys, legal professionals and consultants share their opinions of technology based on their real-world experiences with critically important legal research and practice management systems. Weekly emails also cover topics related to hardware, software and Web-based services used by attorneys throughout the United States.

“Most of these lawyers no longer reach for books, CD-ROMs, or even a software application. Instead, they turn to the Web. Tonight’s winner (LexisNexis) has built an easy-to-use Web front-end to its prodigious legal research database, which is the granddaddy of such databases,” said Neil J. Squillante, TechnoLawyer’s Community Manager, when he presented the Favorite Legal Research Tool Award.

LexisNexis pioneered online legal research, launching the first service of its kind from Dayton, OH, in 1973. Today, the company has customers in approximately 100 countries and includes not only its award-winning online search service, but also some of the industry’s most respected publishing companies that create and provide critical legal information to attorneys, librarians, paralegals and other professionals around the world.

“The TechnoLawyer awards carry a great deal of significance because they are chosen by a cross section of the legal community that ranges from the newest students of technology and the law to the most seasoned IT professionals,” said Andreozzi, who accepted the awards on behalf of the company’s 8,000 U.S.-based employees.

“The awards are also indicative of the caliber of LexisNexis employees who work hard everyday to maintain our systems, enhance our products and serve our customers 24-hours-a-day,” he said.
