Web-Savvy Industry Peers Salute LexisNexis
Online legal research pioneer recognized for two Web-based legal services, garners the SIIA Corporate Achievement Award

DAYTON, OH, April 16, 2002 - Web-savvy industry peers voted LexisNexis™ at lexis.com and lexisONEsm, the legal industry’s leading Web-based legal research services, the best in their class in the 17th annual Codie Awards judging by the members of the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA).

The company also won the SIIA Corporate Achievement Award for its pioneering development of the first online legal research service, launched in 1973.

“This 17th Annual Codie Awards carries on the tradition of celebrating the best of the best in the software and information industry." said Ken Wasch, president of SIIA, in announcing the awards. “As the only peer-reviewed awards program of its kind in this constantly evolving field, winning a Codie Award is indeed a high honor. SIIA congratulates LexisNexis. With these wins, LexisNexis again demonstrates its dominance in the online information industry."

The winning LexisNexis product categories were Best Online Government or Legal Information Service, LexisNexis at lexis.com, and Best Online Professional Reference Product or Service, lexisONE.

“Just days ago, we were voted the favorite legal research tool by the techno-savvy lawyer community, our customers. And now the SIIA industry awards. This is the best validation we could receive that LexisNexis drives confident decision-making by delivering comprehensive and authoritative legal, news and business information services via easy-to-use desktop tools,” said Lou Andreozzi, president and CEO, North American Legal Markets for LexisNexis. “We are gratified to receive this recognition from our colleagues in the software and information industry and thank Ken Wasch and the SIIA organization for its sponsorship.”

Codie Awards recognize the best in software and digital content products and services.  More than 320 companies submitted more than 700 nominations. The awards were announced Monday night at the SIIA annual conference in San Diego and awards ceremony.
