IDG’s Computerworld Selects LexisNexis Group To Annual List Of Best Places To Work In Technology

DAYTON, OH, May 09, 2002 - LexisNexis Group, the global leader in news, business and legal information services, has been selected as one of the best places to work in information technology (IT) by IDG’s Computerworld, the newspaper for IT leaders. The distinction comes as part of the weekly newspaper’s annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, which was published in the May 6th issue and online.

The Best Places to Work list is an annual ranking of the best work environments in the U.S. for IT workers.  In 2002, the feature was expanded for the first time to include a unique view of companies from across the world.  To compile the lists, Computerworld measured companies in several categories including diversity, training, career development, benefits, hot projects, retention and other criteria prospective IT employees find most compelling.

“It is not happenstance that this award comes to LexisNexis,” said Allan McLaughlin, senior vice president and chief technology officer. “We actively work to create an atmosphere that attracts, rewards and values exceptional employees. We thank Computerworld for validating our efforts.”

“This year 's Best Places to Work rankings give us a compelling window into the work environments that technology people value most -- across industries and, for the first time, across cultures,” said Maryfran Johnson, editor in chief of Computerworld.  “In our research worldwide, we found that the best employers create IT workplaces with a commitment to career growth, skills development and work/life balance.”

“As a global player in a dynamic industry, we continue to see great opportunities for the 1,400 technologists at LexisNexis. We’ve increased the average training and development dollars spent per employee and underwent a thorough compensation review to ensure we could continue to attract and retain talent. We also instituted mentoring, cross training and job rotation opportunities to give our employees the broadest, most fulfilling experiences they can find in the IT industry. This award tells our employees what they already know – LexisNexis is a great place to work, ” McLaughlin added.
