New Pennsylvania Statutes, Annotated by LexisNexis Give Attorneys More Current Annotations Online

DAYTON, OH, August 28, 2002 - LexisNexis™, the global leader in legal, news and business information services, said today it has expanded and enhanced its online offerings to include Pennsylvania Statutes, Annotated by LexisNexis. Pennsylvania Statutes, Annotated by LexisNexis is the most recent online annotated statute product introduced by the company this year, bolstering fast access to authoritative and state specific information available on its legal research system.

Offering more current annotations than printed statutes, the first release of Pennsylvania Statutes, Annotated by LexisNexis includes annotations that are current as of August 12, 2002. Annotations cover laws dating back to 1968, the date of the most recent codification of the state’s laws. Coverage will be expanded in future releases to include rules and constitutions. Annotations are written and edited by LexisNexis attorney-editors who are well versed in Pennsylvania law.

Annotated statutes are essential to the success of any legal practice, and combined with case law summaries are a frequently consulted research source. Annotated statutes bring greater value to legal professionals, providing authoritative notes about lawsuits to help them better interpret statutes, thereby gaining a clearer understanding of particular laws. Attorneys can scan statutes to quickly identify on-point laws, while the currency of annotations offer lawyers up to date interpretations of new case law.

“Pennsylvania Statutes, Annotated by LexisNexis are the latest addition to the total research system, which has been enhanced significantly with a number of new state-specific resources this year. Using current, online resources like these, LexisNexis customers are able to leverage the expert analysis provided by our attorney-editors, which in turn can give their clients a winning advantage,” said Liz Mason, Mid-Atlantic and Southern Region vice president and managing director for LexisNexis.

Current subscribers to the unannotated Pennsylvania Statutes from LexisNexis automatically receive the new annotated statutes at no additional charge. Links to treatises, law reviews and other secondary sources are provided, and customers who already have that content included in their subscriptions can access the online research material at no charge. Transactional use of the new online annotated statutes will continue according to customers’ existing search or hourly charges.
