DAYTON, OH, October 10, 2002 - LexisNexis™, the global leader in legal, news and business information services, introduced today a complete practice-management product designed specifically to help California trial lawyers better organize client and case information, legal research, documents, communications and appointments using the LexisNexis™ edition of Time Matters® software.
The LexisNexis California Feature Package with Automated California Judicial Council Forms powered by Time Matters combines the award-winning practice management system with the breadth and depth of the LexisNexis legal research system, over 500 Judicial Council forms, and HotDocs® document automation in an intuitive desktop application. With this software, California attorneys can streamline their research, document assembly, and calendaring for all their litigation needs.
LexisNexis introduced and demonstrated the new product today at the premier event for lawyers in California, the State Bar of California Annual Meeting in Monterey.
“Only LexisNexis offers California attorneys an integrated system featuring Time Matters practice management software, the total research system from LexisNexis, HotDocs document automation and Judicial Council Forms. The LexisNexis California Feature Package with Judicial Council Forms centralizes the information, research, documents and calendaring a law firm needs in order to effectively, efficiently and profitably practice law in California,” said Bill Carter, Western Region vice president and managing director at LexisNexis.
More than 500 California Judicial Council Forms from LexisNexis are included and accessible directly from the Time Matters interface. Major fields in automated forms are mapped to corresponding fields in Time Matters so that as an attorney completes a form it is automatically fills with client information.. Completed forms, as well as all other types of documents related to a matter can be saved in the Time Matters document management system allowing for quick and easy retrieval.
The new LexisNexis California Feature Package with Judicial Council Forms will help attorneys better manage time, documents and research from the moment a new matter is created to the time it is closed. California-specific form styles map directly to the Judicial Council forms. In addition, contact records for California Superior courts and judges, and customized intake sheets are designed to save time and effort implementing the software. In some cases, the time otherwise needed to customize and integrate these features could be hundreds of hours.
Lawyers can better track critical deadlines and processes involved in litigation using the LexisNexis California Feature Package with Judicial Council Forms. Many of the common California procedures involved in litigation have been automated, allowing attorneys to create ToDos, Events and Ticklers to track workflow and critical filing dates.
The LexisNexis California Feature Package with Judicial Council Forms includes the newly introduced Research Manager. Research Manager allows the user to create, annotate and save a direct link between a case matter and research results from LexisNexis, including LexisNexis Case Summaries, Shepard’s® Citations Service, the Web’s most extensive collection of public records, and authoritative analytical content from Matthew Bender®, Michie™ and Mealey’s.
The pioneering drive by LexisNexis to offer an integrated practice management system began in April 2001 when the company introduced the LexisNexis edition of Time Matters, which was the first practice management system to allow lawyers to conduct legal research through Time Matters software. LexisNexis established an alliance with the maker of Time Matters, DATATXT Corp., in January 2001. Now, less than two years later, the LexisNexis California Feature Package with Judicial Council Forms provides customers an unmatched level of integration, customization and ease of use.
The new LexisNexis California Feature Package with Judicial Council Forms is an add-on module to the basic LexisNexis Edition of Time Matters (version 4.0, SR 3). It features unmatched integration of LexisNexis legal research products and Time Matters software to offer unique advantages to a range of California litigators, from sole practitioners to law firms with hundreds of attorneys.
