Training Magazine Honors LexisNexis as One of the Best in Training and Developing Employees
Company selected again for magazine’s annual top 100 ranking from field of more than 500
DAYTON, OH, March 08, 2004 - For the second year in a row, LexisNexis U.S., a leading provider of legal, news and business information services, has earned national recognition for its employee training and development programs from Training magazine. The magazine ranked LexisNexis number 38 in its annual Top 100 ranking for the company’s commitment to employee development and innovative classroom and online training initiatives.
"LexisNexis development programs are tightly connected to its business goals and objectives," said Tammy Galvin, Editor-in-Chief, Training magazine. "What’s more, LexisNexis does a phenomenal job of ensuring that all of its workforce development initiatives actually improve real business metrics."
Training, the highly regarded national professional development magazine that advocates training and workforce development as a business tool, assesses a range of qualitative and quantitative elements to identify and rank the annual Top 100. The editors of Training look at the companies’ financial investments in employee development, the type and scope of training and development programs, and how closely the training efforts are linked to business goals and objectives. LexisNexis was selected from a field of more than 500 companies considered for this year’s ranking.
"Nearly one-fourth of our new employees are recommended by existing employees. We see this as a testimony to the people development culture we’ve established," said Linda Hlavac, senior vice president of Human Resources for LexisNexis. "Training magazine’s recognition shows we are a leader in employee development, a necessity for a company like ours as we continue to grow our company through acquisitions and global expansion."
The company offers its 9,500 U.S. employees many opportunities to participate in classroom and computer-based training. LexisNexis also offers tuition reimbursement, a mentorship program, and a comprehensive new-hire training program that has significantly increased productivity to groups such as sales and customer support.
The company often is singled out for its efforts to attract and retain a strong talent pool. IDG’s Computerworld magazine selected LexisNexis in its most recent ranking of the 100 best companies to work for in information technology.
