LexisNexis Names Suzuki as CEO for Asia-Pacific Region
NEW YORK, NY, June 17, 2004 - LexisNexis Group, a global leader in legal, news and business information services and tailored applications, today announced the hiring of Miyuki Suzuki as chief executive officer (CEO) and president of LexisNexis Asia Pacific. Suzuki most recently was executive vice president and head of Consumer Business for Japan Telecom, the third largest telecommunications company in Japan.
Suzuki succeeds Kurt Sanford, who recently was appointed CEO and president of the LexisNexis Corporate and Public Markets group based in the U.S. Suzuki will report directly to Andrew Prozes, chief executive officer of LexisNexis Group and Reed Elsevier board member, and will be based in Tokyo. LexisNexis Group is a member of the Reed Elsevier Group plc, a world-leading publisher and information provider. Her appointment is effective July 1, 2004.
“Miyuki brings with her tremendous experience from across the Asia-Pacific region. She has worked in similar information industries requiring innovative new products, the harnessing of technology and a strong customer focus,” said Prozes.
Prior to joining Japan Telecom in 2002 Miyuki was CEO of a venture capital-backed start up business in Singapore that developed an innovative online and mobile payment process. This followed four years as managing director of Brokat Asia, a leading German e-commerce software company specializing in providing user-centric solutions for electronic and mobile banking, brokerage, insurance and other predominantly financial applications.
Suzuki began a 16-year career with Reuters as a graduate trainee in 1982. She held a variety of sales and marketing roles throughout the world culminating in the position of managing director, Reuters South East Asia.
Suzuki has lived and worked extensively throughout the Asia-Pacific region, including Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong and New Zealand, as well as London, Bahrain and Toronto. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with honors from Oxford University in England.
Recently, LexisNexis Group announced its plans to open an expanded office in Beijing to answer the expected increase in demand for access to information services in China.
