DAYTON, OH, January 31, 2005 - LexisNexis U.S., a leading provider of legal, news, and business information services, today announced an expansion of its robust news and international content for the academic and library community. Titles from McClatchy, United Press International Arabia 2000, and NoticiasFinancieras are now available in LexisNexis Academic. LexisNexis corporate clients have been accessing these sources via the nexis.com® and lexis.com® services, and now academia will benefit.

The collection from McClatchy includes some of the Top 100 U.S. newspapers, such as The Fresno Bee, The Modesto Bee, The Sacramento Bee, and The News and Observer (Raleigh). Other major dailies include the Anchorage Daily News, The Herald (Rock Hill, South Carolina), The News Tribune (Tacoma), and The Star Tribune (Minneapolis).

The addition of UPI’s Arabia 2000 gives subscribers access to full-text English language content, which includes regional perspectives from the Iranian News Agency, Bahrain News Agency, Emirates News Agency, Jordanian News Agency, Saudi Press Agency, Suna News Agency, and Yemen News Agency.

For Latin America coverage, NoticiasFinancieras covers news from multiple Latin American countries - from the daily openings and closings of major stock exchanges to weekly reports on key political and economic happenings in each country. The news is written and published within each Latin American country, then aggregated with up-to-date information from the region. NoticiasFinancieras provides LexisNexis subscribers with access to financial, corporate and economic news in Spanish and Portuguese. Approximately 100 news stories each day are also in English.

"These content additions from U.S., Middle Eastern, and Latin American sources further strengthen our timely and extensive collection of local and international news and business coverage," says Tim Fusco, LexisNexis vice president of Publishing Operations. "With a single point of access to LexisNexis, users can quickly search and track a variety of issues, from the Iraq elections to the impact of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s budget plan on school funding." LexisNexis customers rely on having access to news sources from across the globe, including national newspapers, broadcast transcripts, trade publications, magazines, and other regional and local sources.
