Seattle Attorney Earns Immigration Law Honor
Benson wins Daniel Levy Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement
DAYTON, OH, June 02, 2005 - Seattle lawyer Ann Benson, Directing Attorney for the Washington Defender Association’s Immigration Project, has been named to receive the fourth annual LexisNexis Matthew Bender Daniel Levy Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in Immigration Law. She will receive the honor on June 22nd at the Annual American Immigration Lawyers Association Conference at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City
Benson has been practicing immigration law since 1991. Her organization advocates for the rights of noncitizens in the criminal justice system. Benson has also been legal director at the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project in Seattle. She is a member of the Advisory Board for the National Network to End Violence Against Immigrant Women, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and is on the adjunct faculty of the University of Washington School of Law.
The award, sponsored by LexisNexis Matthew Bender, is named for the late Daniel Levy of Los Angeles, who was a leader and national figure in immigration law, publishing and scholarship.
