DAYTON, OH, June 02, 2005 - Further bolstering its growing list of industry recognitions and awards, LexisNexis® Total Search was honored with the 2005 CODiE Award for the Best Solution Integrating Content into an Application. The CODiE Awards, which are in their 20th year, are presented by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). LexisNexis U.S. is a leading provider of legal, news and business information services.

"This recognition by the SIIA is yet another proof-point that LexisNexis Total Search continues to meet and exceed the critical information and content management needs of law practices across the country," said Joe Swimmer, director, LexisNexis Total Search. "Receiving a 2005 CODiE Award further assures our customers that LexisNexis is bringing the tools, content and expertise that are needed to make them better practitioners and, importantly, to more profitably run and grow their practices."

LexisNexis
Total Search provides legal professionals and law firms with the ability to find relevant internal work product as easily as they search the familiar lexis.com® interface. LexisNexis Total Search guides legal professionals through their drafting or research tasks with the intelligent cross-referencing of information embedded within firm internal content or trusted LexisNexis news, legal, business and public records materials, including Shepard’s Signal indicators. All of this, in turn, creates new efficiencies within the practice of law and the business of running the law firm.

On May 31, 2005, LexisNexis Total Search v. 3.1 was released as an even more powerful tool for locating, focusing and connecting all relevant internal and external content a user needs to complete a research or drafting assignment. LexisNexis Total Search v. 3.1 includes:

  • Embedded Shepard’s Signal indicators in internal work product
  • Precise proximity, "Boolean" searching of internal documents
  • Cross-referencing of statutes and case-law embedded in lexis.com and internal answer sets
  • Enhanced drilldown to further refine internal results sets
  • Ability to combine a citation search and a Boolean search within internal documents
  • Usage tracking and reporting capabilities
  • Ability to use the FOCUS feature in both LexisNexis and internal document results
  • Support of additional document management systems
  • Advanced administration tools
"LexisNexis Total Search v. 3.1 expands the lexis.com experience to the firm’s internal work product and enhances the search and retrieval capabilities that legal professionals rely on every day," said Swimmer. "This latest version of LexisNexis Total Search provides the fastest and most powerful means to surface internal firm content and previous work product available today."

According to Ken Wasch, President of SIIA, "The 20th Annual CODiE Awards continues SIIA’s tradition of celebrating the best products in the software and information industry. Being chosen as the winning company from among so many fine nominees is a tremendous achievement.

"LexisNexis has once again shown the strength of their products in the industry. SIIA congratulates LexisNexis on winning a 2005 Codie Award in this new category," Wasch added.

Established in 1986, the CODiE Awards is the longest-running awards program in the software and information industry. The program acknowledges the industry’s most innovative products and services through a combination of journalist and peer review. It showcases the software and digital content industry’s most innovative products and services, and commends corporate excellence and philanthropic efforts. More than 1,000 nominations were submitted by over 800 companies for the 2005 awards.
