DAYTON, OH, June 07, 2005 - LexisNexis U.S., a leading provider of legal, news and business information services, today announced that Peter J. Vanderheyden has been named vice president for Intellectual Property.

Vanderheyden, who has a successful track record in starting and developing patent information businesses such as Delphion and IP.COM, will provide expertise and global leadership for the business strategy of LexisNexis in the area of Intellectual Property. His appointment was effective May 20.

"Peter’s expertise in the Intellectual Property market and his experience in building new businesses will be invaluable as we bring together our Intellectual Property content and business assets to create an unrivalled suite of information and tools for IP professionals in corporations and law firms world-wide," said Clemens Ceipek, senior vice president, LexisNexis Corporate and Public Markets.

Most recently, Vanderheyden was vice president of marketing and business development of IP.COM. Before joining IP.COM Vanderheyden spent 18 years at IBM where he co-founded and developed Delphion, a global patent information and research business. Prior to that he served as the Chief Financial Officer of a $900M business unit of IBM and held several positions in finance and marketing. Vanderheyden holds a business degree from the University of Minnesota.
