TORONTO, ON , August 31, 2005 - LexisNexis U.S., a leading provider of legal, news and business information services, today launched LexisNexis PCLaw Version 7.5, the latest release of its industry-leading time, billing, accounting and practice management software.

This updated product, the first version released since LexisNexis acquired PCLaw in March 2005, offers enhanced integration with LexisNexis, including direct links to the lexis.com® service, the ability to Shepardize® citations, and populate forms with LexisNexis HotDocs®.

"PCLaw's enhanced integration with other LexisNexis® products and services highlight the LexisNexis commitment to provide customers with the best of breed productivity tools while creating a seamless customer experience," said Bob Butler, chief operating officer of the LexisNexis Practice Management Group, which produces PCLaw. "Making these new features, and the extraordinary range of LexisNexis research, news and content, easily available in the lawyer’s workflow will allow legal professionals to focus less on the business of law and more on the practice of law."

The new integration of PCLaw 7.5 with HotDocs allows users to retrieve PCLaw client information directly for use with the HotDocs document automation software. Powerful backfill capabilities allow users to type information into documents and have it automatically entered back into PCLaw saving users valuable time.

Additionally users can conduct online legal research on LexisNexis from within PCLaw including getting a case, retrieving a statute or performing a Shepard’s® search for any citation. PCLaw will save the record to the matter and allows the user to record time or expenses against the client file for billing.

Billing and Accounting Enhancements

"Now having the resources and support of LexisNexis allow us to accelerate our development timetable to enhance the core features of PCLaw," said Steve McMurray, co-founder of PCLaw. "This new version also enhances PCLaw's existing features based on customer feedback, which has always been the driving force behind each release."

The new version of PCLaw includes new billing features, including the addition of a contingency fee calculator that simplifies the calculation of attorney fees for contingency cases. In addition, users can now easily create run-on or paragraph billing statements for their clients.

The new version also adds integration with Microsoft Excel, allowing firms who wish to perform additional analysis on accounting reports and financial statements to export files to Excel. Select reports can be summarized by department allowing firms to analyze billing and collection productivity by practice area.
