DENVER, COLO. AND DAYTON, OH, September 14, 2005 - The Colorado judiciary has awarded a two-year contract to LexisNexis® U.S. to provide electronic search services through LexisNexis® CourtLink®. LexisNexis will serve as Colorado’s partnered private sector agent in providing the general public and selected government entities remote access to important court data that includes a summary of case information and the register of actions in civil, domestic and criminal cases filed in Colorado state courts.

The announcement was made jointly by the Colorado court system and LexisNexis, a global leader in comprehensive and authoritative legal, news and business information and tailored applications. LexisNexis will implement the contract in phases, with public availability of state court cases in late November. LexisNexis CourtLink will allow users to search by case number and litigant name and also electronically track these cases.

LexisNexis will add an alerting feature in late December. This new functionality will allow law firms to be among the first to know when one of their clients or prospects is sued.

The new contract comes on the heels of a July renewal of a LexisNexis File & Serve statewide contract for court e-filing services.

"The Colorado Judicial Department was the first in the country to implement statewide electronic filing of court documents using LexisNexis® File & Serve in 2000. Now the Judicial Department has shown its trust and confidence in LexisNexis to do the same with electronic access to court docket information," said Michele Vivona, vice president and general manager of LexisNexis litigation services products, including LexisNexis CourtLink.

"We were looking for a vendor that could bridge electronic filing and real-time access to our court data by both the public and government agencies," says Gerald Marroney, Colorado State Court Administrator. "This contract is part of our long-term vision for the Colorado judiciary to give immediate and secure access to court cases to the public. At the same time, Colorado government agencies will have court data access at no cost to the agencies."

"We are very pleased that our first statewide contract for CourtLink docket information services is the great state of Colorado," said Michael Gersch, vice president of strategic operations.

Colorado state trial courts that will be available through LexisNexis CourtLink include all 64 county courts, excluding Denver County, 22 district courts, selected municipal courts and seven water courts, one for each of Colorado’s major river basins.
