NEW YORK, NY, January 30, 2006 - In the wake of the treacherous hurricane season of 2005 – and after receiving unparalleled assistance from LexisNexis U.S. – Jones Walker has incorporated LexisNexis® Managed Network Services across its entire law firm network. LexisNexis is a leading provider of legal, news and business information services and tools proven to improve firm productivity and profitability.

Jones Walker, one of the largest and most diverse law firms in the Southern U.S., chose to incorporate LexisNexis Managed Network Services because the firm recognizes the importance of business continuity and disaster recovery measures which must be in place for businesses in areas of high-risk for natural disasters. Following an in-depth evaluation of the LexisNexis services – and the barrage of hurricanes which affected not only the New Orleans office, but also the firm’s other offices throughout the Southeast – the firm selected LexisNexis Managed Network Services.

"A most critical factor for any law firm is to maintain reliable communication with its clients. No time is this more important than during a state of emergency or natural disaster, much like the hurricanes brought to our various offices over the past year," said Ken Orgeron, Chief Information Office, Jones Walker. "LexisNexis shares the firm’s ideas and philosophies around business continuity and disaster recovery – and after witnessing the effort LexisNexis put forth to assist us once the hurricanes hit, we knew there was no better fit for Jones Walker than LexisNexis Managed Network Services."

As part of the agreement, the LexisNexis Data Center in Miamisburg, Ohio, becomes part of the Jones Walker national network, providing replication services for the firm. The LexisNexis Data Center is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the world, serving businesses in over 100 countries and boasting greater than 99.99 percent availability. As a result of this long-standing success, LexisNexis is a leading member of Uptime Institute for Data Center Management. Last year, LexisNexis opened a second data center in Springfield, Ohio, with each facility serving as a backup and disaster recovery facility for the other.

LexisNexis Managed Network Services is a comprehensive suite of solutions which provides data storage and management services tailored to a firm’s needs, providing support as well as requirements assessment, design and cost modeling throughout the entire implementation process. LexisNexis Managed Network Services includes:

  • Data backup and protection
  • Disaster recovery services
  • Systems hosting
  • Networking services
  • Design consulting
" Legal professionals have long relied on LexisNexis data management and research capabilities. With our Managed Network Services, we are able to meet law firms’ needs well beyond legal research," said Tim Titus, director, Market Planning, LexisNexis. "We are extremely pleased that we were able to assist Jones Walker with its critical data during this year’s severe hurricane season, and we look forward to working with the firm to ensure the on-going effective storage and management of their data."

LexisNexis Managed Network Services are one component of the LexisNexis Total Practice Solutions, which help legal professionals achieve excellence in both the business and practice of law by providing better tools to increase productivity and profitability, and grow the practice. LexisNexis offerings are designed for the way legal professionals work, in all of the areas essential to their success, including Client Development, Research Solutions, Practice Management, and Litigation Services.
