DAYTON , OH , April 03, 2006 - LexisNexis U.S., a global provider of information products and services for legal and tax professionals, today introduced LexisNexis® Tax Center, an online research tool that offers tax professionals easy access to the broadest collection of “must-have” tax research materials. Content includes materials from CCH®, Tax Analysts®, Kleinrock, Matthew Bender®, and other sources, including premium information unavailable from any other provider.

Developed specifically for tax professionals, LexisNexis Tax Center helps streamline tax research in a single easy-to-use interface integrating access to premium content with comprehensive primary source materials, including federal and state tax laws, regulations, administrative material, case law and public records. By helping tax professionals obtain comprehensive and relevant results, LexisNexis Tax Center prepares them to confidently address increased regulatory challenges.

“The tax practice is under increased scrutiny not only from the IRS, but also from the SEC and state business regulators as a result of Sarbanes - Oxley. This heightened regulatory environment makes it more critical for tax professionals to cover all the bases in finding and documenting answers to tax questions,” said Charles Ter Bush, vice president and managing director, Tax and Accounting, LexisNexis. “LexisNexis Tax Center is the only product that addresses these concerns and helps ensure that tax professionals don’t miss critical information.”

A recent survey by LexisNexis® found that 88 percent of tax professionals believe the increased complexity of tax laws makes it a challenge to find all the information they need. Nearly three-quarters of respondents indicated regulatory changes have increased the volume of their work.

This struggle to find correct information quickly puts tax professionals and their organizations at risk for penalties and censure from oversight agencies. LexisNexis Tax Center helps mitigate this risk by enabling tax professionals to search and navigate across an array of premium analytical resources, as well as federal and state tax laws, regulations, administrative material, case law and public records material that only LexisNexis can provide.

The LexisNexis survey also found that 74 percent of respondents said it is very challenging to find relevant information when researching, and 80 percent usually or always go to multiple sources to obtain information.

LexisNexis Tax Center addresses these challenges by enabling searches across an exclusive combination of sources from multiple publishers including CCH, Tax Analysts, Matthew Bender, and Kleinrock in one easy-to-use interface, a capability that no other research product allows. LexisNexis Tax Center features flexible tools to pinpoint the most relevant material, including:

  • Enhanced navigational technology that allows easy linking among critical primary and secondary content such as cases, codes, treatises and other analytical sources.
  • Exclusive insights and analysis written by leading tax practitioners.

    • LexisNexis Tax Center offers topical materials and explanations from authoritative sources including Federal Income Taxation of Corporations Filing Consolidated Returns, Rhoades & Langer, U.S. International Taxation and Tax Treaties, Federal Income Taxation of Inventories, and many additional publications from Matthew Bender, Tax Analysts and other respected tax and accounting publishers.
    • Even more insight and analysis are coming soon. Partners at leading accounting and law firms are working with LexisNexis to provide experienced viewpoints and practical information about complex tax issues.
  • Quicker navigation and faster results for greater ease of use. LexisNexis Tax Center gives users the flexibility to conduct research across multiple sources in a single search or begin research from topic-specific tabs. Users also have the ability to save favorite searches and sources on the customizable interface.
  • LexisNexis Tax Center uses Shepard’s® Citations Service to ensure customers are relying on current law.
A variety of LexisNexis Tax Center packages are available, each specifically designed for different tax practices. There are base packages with federal and state information that most practitioners need, as well as add-ons for specialized practice areas such as estate planning and international taxation. These are priced on an annual subscription basis, depending on content accessed and numbers of professionals in the firm or corporate tax department.
