LexisNexis Canada Announces New Quicklaw Service
New Version of Leading Online Legal Research Service Will Provide Advanced Functionality to Deliver More Precise, More Relevant Research Results
TORONTO, ONTARIO, Canada, May 08, 2006 - LexisNexis Canada, a leading provider of information and services solutions, today announced a new version of the LexisNexis® Quicklaw™ online legal research service. Combining comprehensive content with an updated look and feel, the new version of the market-leading Quicklaw service will make research easier, more flexible, more efficient, and more precise.
The new Quicklaw will be available via the LexisNexis® global technology platform. LexisNexis announced the platform in 2003 and has successfully introduced local adaptations to customers in several countries. The platform brings advanced features and functionality and will provide opportunities to subscribe to vast collections of international sources.
"The new version of Quicklaw addresses needs expressed by customers for enhanced functionality and better delivery of research results," said Mike Pilmer, president and CEO, LexisNexis Canada. "We have designed the next version of Quicklaw based on customer feedback. We conducted focus group sessions and other market research across Canada in both English and French, and have incorporated the findings into the enhanced Quicklaw product. Powerful new features and functionality complement our comprehensive content, and help legal researchers pinpoint the information they need."
The enhanced Quicklaw product was designed to make research results more relevant and more complete. Like the existing version of Quicklaw, the updated service will provide access to superior collections of court and administrative tribunal decisions, legislation, exclusive current awareness services, legal texts, journals, and articles.
Quicklaw has earned a reputation as Canada’s national provider of online legal information. Lawyers, judges, law librarians, law students, and professionals across the country use the service every day to perform legal research tasks that are essential to their success. Research tasks on Quicklaw range from identifying case law to support a legal position, to understanding the law or legal procedures in a particular jurisdiction, to keeping abreast of emerging legal issues in a particular area of law, to collecting background information for factual discovery.
More information about the new Quicklaw will become available as LexisNexis Canada moves toward migrating customers to the new service. Customers who have questions should contact their account executives. A new section on the LexisNexis Canada web site, at www.lexisnexis.ca/newquicklaw, will keep customers and others informed about new developments.
