WASHINGTON, DC, September 13, 2006 - LexisNexis Special Services Inc., the trusted leader in enabling government agencies to transform data into mission-critical decisions, today named Major General John Casciano (USAF Ret.) as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Casciano will direct and manage all sales and operations to support the dramatic growth led by LexisNexis® Advanced Government Solutions in federal, state and local markets.

Casciano, who retired in 1999 as Director of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, the United States Air Force’s senior-most intelligence community position, has served in a variety of command and staff positions in both the United States and overseas during a military career spanning more than 30 years. He most recently served as director of Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corporation’s National Capital Area business unit, where he led the company’s expansion into the federal government market, and has previously served as a senior executive with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Litton TASC Inc.

Casciano has extensive expertise in the domains of information security, information operations and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and brings seasoned experience and knowledge of the intelligence, federal law enforcement and homeland security markets. He currently serves as a member of AFCEA International’s Intelligence Committee and has participated in advisory panels and studies for the Defense Science Board and Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. Casciano holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Georgetown University and has attended executive courses related to national security and business at both Harvard and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Casciano is a native of Philadelphia.
