TORONTO, ONTARIO, Canada, July 11, 2006 - LexisNexis Canada, a leading provider of information and services solutions, today announced the Canadian launch of LexisNexis® HotDocs® 2006, an award-winning software application that significantly reduces the time spent generating customized documents, such as contracts, sales proposals, government and court forms, legal documents, loan applications, and medical forms. Since its origins in the late 1970s, HotDocs has grown to become the leading document automation software with more than 400,000 users worldwide.

Using HotDocs, customers can transform any word processor file into an interactive template. The next time a customer wants to generate a completed document, the customer simply assembles the interactive template that has been created. As the template is being assembled, the customer will be prompted for the information needed in the document, and that information will automatically be merged into the document.

"When using HotDocs, customers can perfect a template, minimizing the ‘human error’ factor that repetitive typing, or cutting and pasting, introduces. Additionally, they can automate their templates so that verb tenses, gender references, dates, numbers, calculations, and the like are updated automatically as users enter information," said Mike Ives, product manager, at LexisNexis Canada. He said HotDocs "saves time, minimizes errors, and lets organizations share knowledge efficiently."

HotDocs 2006 contains many new features including:

An improved "interview" process when compiling a document,

The ability to customize text within a document and retain the changes after reassembly,

The ability to remove hidden data from documents, and

The ability to update tables of contents and indexes automatically.

HotDocs document automation software is part of the LexisNexis solutions for practice management and is integrated with LexisNexis® Time Matters®, LexisNexis® PCLaw, and Microsoft® Outlook®.

"The launch of HotDocs 2006 in Canada represents our commitment to providing Total Practice Solutions to help lawyers and law firms succeed in the business and practice of law," said Alan Dingle, vice president, Corporate Development, at LexisNexis Canada. "LexisNexis offerings in four key areas—Research Solutions, Practice Management, Client Development, and Litigation Services—help legal professionals increase productivity, profitability, and growth."

More information about HotDocs 2006 is available at a new section on the LexisNexis Canada Wweb site, at www.lexisnexis.ca/hotdocs.
