WASHINGTON, DC, October 05, 2006 - LexisNexis, the trusted leader in enabling government agencies to transform data into mission-critical decisions, today convened the first meeting of its Law Enforcement Advisory Board at the historic Wye River Conference Center in Queenstown, Maryland. The Law Enforcement Advisory Board was created to assist LexisNexis to better understand the unique needs and challenges of the law enforcement community in order to accelerate the development and deployment of comprehensive solutions to address the most complex and challenging crime issues.

Earlier this year, LexisNexis® Investigative Solutions were launched as part of the Advanced Government Solutions offering to deliver a more powerful combination of data, fusion and analytics to the law enforcement community to enable advanced search and analysis, fusion center applications and information sharing for specific law enforcement, public safety and homeland security missions.

"Due primarily to the focus on terrorism, the need for reliable, timely information from various public and proprietary sources has shot to the forefront of the national debate. As a result, information use and sharing have become critical leadership issues for all levels of government," said Norm Willox, CEO of LexisNexis Special Services. "The creation of the Law Enforcement Advisory Board reflects our commitment to understanding the law enforcement issues that impact these areas in order to better assist the country’s efforts for fighting terrorism and crime."

The Law Enforcement Advisory Board consists of active and retired members of the law enforcement community from across the country and will foster a dialogue in the areas of law, policy, operations, technology and collaboration, as well as the value and role of various types of information for public safety, criminal investigation and homeland security missions.
