NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ, July 06, 2005 - LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell, the leading client development company for the legal profession, is funding a new scholarship for law students associated with Equal Justice Works who have done an exceptional job practicing public interest law.

Equal Justice Works (formerly the National Association for Public Interest Law) was founded in 1986 by law students dedicated to working for equal justice on behalf of underserved communities and causes. Today, Equal Justice Works is the national leader in creating summer and postgraduate public interest opportunities for law students and lawyers as well as in urging more public interest programming at law schools.

The LexisNexis® Martindale-Hubbell® scholarship is part of a three-year, $60,000 grant the company has given Equal Justice Works to support the work the organization does in 47 states nationwide. The scholarships will consist of annual $5,000 cash awards handed out to student winners of the "Exemplary Public Service Awards" recognized each year by Equal Justice Works at its annual awards dinner. The term of the scholarship endowments are for three years, with the first award scheduled to be presented in October 2005.

"We have been pleased to partner with Equal Justice Works for many years as part of our own corporate pro bono service to the legal profession, and we are delighted to be able to fund a scholarship that will recognize public service-minded law students who demonstrate excellence," said Paul Gazzolo, chief operating officer of New Providence, N.J.-based LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell. "Martindale-Hubbell considers it our corporate imperative to give back to the legal profession by financially supporting organizations, such as Equal Justice Works, which advance the cause of justice around the U.S."
