NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ, August 22, 2005 - More than 200 employees from New Providence-based LexisNexis® Martindale-Hubbell® will participate in a variety of upcoming community events as volunteer workers for two prominent New Jersey non-profit organizations.

The special volunteer opportunities are part of the RE Cares program, a unique corporate initiative from Reed Elsevier Group plc, a world-leading business publishing company and parent of LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell.

On August 24, August 26 and September 8, Martindale-Hubbell employees will volunteer to help out the Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey and The Community FoodBank of New Jersey. The Boys & Girls Clubs events (August 24 and 26) will include an "Olympic Day" with various games for the kids, a carnival and cookout, and various beautification projects at six different clubs in the North-Central New Jersey area. The Community FoodBank event (September 8) will consist of a special work day for sorting and packing food items, clothing and school supplies.

The two organizations are among the largest charitable groups in the state. The Boys & Girls Clubs serves more than 85,500 youth statewide and The Community FoodBank annually assists charities serving more than 500,000 people in need throughout New Jersey.

"Our employees were simply asked to select a paid work day on which they would like to volunteer to help out with one of the events planned for the date they had in mind, then we asked them to give a portion of that day to the charities and enjoy the remainder of it with their own families," said Paul Gazzolo, chief operating officer of LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell. "The response from our New Providence team has been fantastic and we expect more than 200 of our employees to invest their time with these deserving community organizations. We feel like this is a wonderful opportunity to make a real and meaningful difference in the lives of other people in our region."

According to Gazzolo, Reed Elsevier and LexisNexis are dedicated to playing a positive role in its local and global communities, primarily through employee involvement. The central focus of RE Cares is education for disadvantaged young people and cares initiatives of importance to local employees. Through this program, LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell employees each receive two paid days off per year to volunteer for a non-profit organization in their communities.
