San Antonio Attorney Earns Immigration Law Honor
Maldonado wins Daniel Levy Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement
DAYTON, OH, June 13, 2006 - San Antonio lawyer Javier Maldonado, former executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights under Law of Texas, has been named to receive the fifth annual LexisNexis Matthew Bender Daniel Levy Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in Immigration Law. He will receive the honor June 21st at the Annual American Immigration Lawyers Association conference in San Antonio.
Maldonado is now in private practice, continuing to litigate civil rights actions in the areas of immigration and employment. He worked for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund before he joined the Texas Lawyers’ Committee in 2001.
The award, sponsored by LexisNexis Matthew Bender, is named for the late Daniel Levy of Los Angeles, who was a leader and national figure in immigration law, publishing and scholarship.
