Yipes and LexisNexis Deliver Scalable Network Platform for Law Firms
LegalConnect! launched by Yipes and available as part of the LexisNexis suite of hosted services for legal practices
PHOENIX, AZ, August 23, 2005 - Yipes Enterprise Services, Inc., and LexisNexis U.S. today announced the availability of a new, scalable network platform designed specifically for law firms. The platform – Yipes LegalConnect! – is a secure and highly-available network solution that provides law firms with private, cost-effective and scalable access to a wide range of legal hosted services, and is now available as part of the full LexisNexis suite of hosted services for law firms
This announcement was made during the 28th annual meeting of the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA – formerly LawNet) in Phoenix, Ariz., Aug. 21-26, 2005.
As a result of this relationship between San Francisco-based Yipes and LexisNexis, a leading provide of legal, news and business information, law firms will benefit from unprecedented simplicity, security and availability in connecting to one of the largest providers of legal and hosted services – Dayton, Ohio-based LexisNexis. As part of this relationship, LexisNexis will resell Yipes Ethernet services as part of the company’s law firm-specific hosted services, which include document management, electronic discovery, off-site document repositories, backup and recovery and network services.
According to Keao Caindec, Yipes vice president of marketing, LegalConnect! is able to leverage Yipes’ Gigabit Ethernet network to deliver redundant, fast and secure access to hosted services from 1 Mbps to 1 Gbps in 1 Mbps increments.
"Yipes currently serves 25 percent of the largest law firms in the U.S. with secure, simple and reliable solutions across multiple locations," said Caindec. "With LegalConnect!, Yipes further leverages those key benefits by providing legal professionals direct, private, highly-available and scalable Ethernet-based connectivity into the hosted services that firms rely on to keep their practice functioning at its highest levels.
"Our exciting new partnership with LexisNexis typifies the kind of unique synergies possible through LegalConnect!," Caindec continued. "One of the most respected and trusted names in data access and management, LexisNexis has developed an invaluable set of turnkey service offerings for the legal community, and Yipes is very pleased to bring our Gigabit Ethernet network directly to their customers."
Because of the familiarity and simplicity of Ethernet, Yipes’ solutions are easy to deploy, easy to manage and do not require a CSU/DSU or router. In fact, Ethernet Services-based solutions typically are 30-70 percent less expensive than traditional leased line and frame relay-based solutions, making it the optimum network solution for legal and hosted services.
"Yipes’ reliable, scalable and flexible service delivery platform is ideal for the legal sector," said Terry Williams, director of hosted services, LexisNexis. "In weighing our options for key network partners, we knew Yipes could deliver the technology, with the flexibility and lower total cost of ownership that would be consistent with our customer-first focus. We are very enthusiastic about working with them and know it will be a great combination for the legal community."
For decades, LexisNexis has used advanced systems to provide tailored legal information service. Today, the company meets a wider range of information needs – beyond legal research – with flexible data vaulting, managed network services, and systems-hosting programs for small, mid-sized and large law firms.
