SUBJECT: Web access to LexisNexis Government Periodicals
Index
(name of library) has acquired LexisNexis Government
Periodicals Indexyour key to unlocking the wealth of material
published by the United States federal government. As a publisher
of information relating to diverse subjects-business, agriculture,
national security, the environment, nutrition, transportation-the
federal government offers numerous magazines and newsletters
with substantial research value. LexisNexis Government Periodicals
Index helps researchers access this body of literature through
detailed subject and author indexing.
With retrospective coverage back to 1988, the service facilitates
access to more than 125,000 articles from the government's most
important periodicals. The database is available campus-wide,
with no limit on the number of users. Researchers use simple
fill-in-the-blank search forms on a standard Web browser while
still taking advantage of the powerful LexisNexis search engine
and the ability to use boolean logic.
Library sources say that the new service requires no formal
training and that even first-time database searchers can use
the system productively.
