Press Room LexisNexis® Applied Discovery® Named Product of the Year by Law Technology News®, Readers Applied Discovery also named Best Electronic Data Discovery System during inaugural awards banquet February 4, 2004, New York — Quickly establishing itself as a true leader in electronic discovery, LexisNexis® Applied Discovery® today announced that the company received two Law Technology News® Awards during the publication's inaugural awards banquet in New York. Applied Discovery took home awards for Product of the Year, the nominees for which spanned all award categories, and Best Electronic Data Discovery System. Applied Discovery is a leading provider of electronic discovery services to the nation's top law firms and corporations. The company currently counts 38 of the top 50 U.S. law firms as clients. Many "Global 1000" companies also use Applied Discovery's products and services to manage a growing amount of electronic data in litigation, government investigations and antitrust document review. The company has a processing capacity of five million pages per day, with documents typically ready for review within 48 hours after receipt of data. "Applied Discovery has a well-earned reputation as a leader in the field of electronic discovery," said Adam I. Cohen, a litigation partner in the New York office of Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP and co-author of the treatise Electronic Discovery: Law and Practice. "The announcement of these prestigious awards is further proof of the company's commitment to providing legal professionals with the highest quality electronic discovery products and services." Applied Discovery's patent-pending technology displays virtually any electronic document type in a fully searchable and secure Web-based PDF file without compromising the integrity of the original file format. "This leading-edge technology combined with our ability to use it for the benefit of our clients continues to gain industry-wide recognition, including the recent Law Technology News Awards," said Lou Andreozzi, president and CEO, North American Legal Markets, LexisNexis. "This recognition is further affirmation of the power of Applied Discovery's leading e-discovery capabilities and our ability to address critical client needs." Since the company's inception, Applied Discovery clients have relied on its superior client service, much of which is directly attributed to the personal attention and quality project management services it provides. The company also was named the 2003 "Service Provider of the Year" by WSA (formerly the Washington Software Alliance). Applied Discovery received the award as recognition for regularly exceeding client expectations as well as for demonstrating the most exemplary service through a strong use of technology, bringing extraordinary quality, creativity and responsiveness to clients. "With technology now the third-largest expense for law firms, the selection of the right partners and products is a critical decision for management," said Kevin Vermeulen, publisher of Law Technology News®. "The award winners have been chosen by actual users, based on their experience, as the most useful tools for their profession. We're pleased to recognize their achievements in our first award program." In October 2003, the editors of Law Technology News® asked the publication's 40,000 subscribers to select products and vendors that represented outstanding achievement in 13 categories of legal technology. Ballots were bound into all copies of the magazine and delivered to LTN's audience of law firm partners and managing partners, legal administrators, MIS/IT directors and specialists, corporate counsel, litigation support specialists, librarians and other legal professionals. Only original ballots (no copies) were accepted, and the cutoff date for receipt of votes was Nov. 30, 2003. Beta Research tabulated the ballots, and winners were determined based on the most-mentioned products/company in each category. Winners were honored at LegalTech New York, on Feb. 3, at the New York Hilton hotel, during a special awards dinner.
