Introducing LexisNexis® Expert Commentary

Ask the LexisNexis experts—and get a complete analysis based on today’s law.
As you specialize to meet marketplace demand, you may find yourself looking for more practice-area analysis to help you assess rapidly evolving areas of law. An authoritative analysis of important cases, codes, statutes, rulings, emerging issues or legal topics is available now—exclusively through new LexisNexis Expert Commentary.

The brain trust of LexisNexis authors—thousands of recognized authorities who develop the respected Matthew Bender®, Mealey’s™ and Martindale-Hubbell® treatises and articles—produce this highly specific content. Each Expert Commentary offers three to six pages covering an important case, code, statute, ruling or similar component of the law. Expert Commentary covers cases coming out today.

More current and concentrated than treatises and more analytical than news, Expert Commentary bridges the information gap between the two, providing quick expert analysis of current developments in law. And the resource is growing. The initial offering includes more than 3,000 commentary starting with the top 150 cases across each of the targeted practices areas. New Commentary documents will be added to major decisions to cover today’s vital legal issues.

Tips for Searching LexisNexis Expert Commentary
LexisNexis Expert Commentary, which is available only on a transactional basis, can be accessed in three different ways.
  1. Link directly to Expert Commentary PDFs from case law. For example, as you view the full text of Leggin Creative Leather Products v. PSKS, Inc., 168 L. Ed. 2d. 623 (2007) at www.lexis.com, just click the Expert Commentary ($) link to move to the text of the commentary.

  3. Link to Expert Commentary from the Practice Communities. There are now more than 10 Practice Communities that offer practice area specific information solutions from LexisNexis, as well as product updates, educational opportunities like CLE, conferences and seminars, and news related to your specialty.

Each Expert Commentary includes a brief online synopsis; that’s what you are actually searching.

For example, to search Expert Commentary to find documents discussing anti-trust issues:

SOURCE:              Expert Commentary
SEARCH:              antitrust OR anti trust

Or find all Expert Commentary by a specific author, for example, Shawn D. Parrish:

SOURCE:              Expert Commentary
SEARCH:              parrish

From the synopses, you can move directly to the commentary PDF by clicking the Expert Commentary ($) link.  Each three to six page commentary includes links to U.S. and state case law, statutes, regulations, rules of conduct and other vital treatises and analysis. You can print or download your expert commentary using the standard PDF functions.
