Coming This Summer! LexisNexis® Headnotes in Shepard’s® Reports
The most heavily requested Shepard’s enhancement is coming this summer!!
LexisNexis Headnotes are key legal points of a case drawn directly from the language of the court. They appear at the beginning of the case, numbered consecutively, and allow you to review the key issues of the case at a glance. Shepard’s will now match the LexisNexis Headnotes from your case to text in citing cases to find those that contain the same LexisNexis Headnotes. This will allow you to quickly identify cases that deal with similar issues.
For example:
In the case of McNeil v. Economic Laboratory, Inc., 800 F.2d 111, LexisNexis Headnote 16 refers to reinstatement as a remedy under the Age Employment Discrimination Act.

When you Shepardize® the McNeil case, Shepard’s will look through the citing cases and identify those cases that also reference the topic covered in Headnote 16 so you can quickly identify citing cases that discuss the specific issue in which you are interested.
Only on LexisNexis
Now when you Shepardize, the addition of LexisNexis Headnotes will allow you to:
- quickly identify citing cases that discuss the specific headnote or issue in which you are interested;
- link directly to the position in a citing case that matches the language of your chosen headnote;
- and immediately assemble a list of cases that both cite your case and discuss the issue captured in your chosen headnote.
With 132 years of time-tested editorial analysis, Shepard’s Citations Service is relied on most for its accuracy and timeliness. Shepard’s continues to make your research quicker and easier and give you the confidence that you’ve covered all your bases.
