New LexisNexis® Alert Makes Staying Informed Easier Than Ever
The LexisNexis ECLIPSE™ feature, which allows you to update search results automatically, has a new name—LexisNexis® Alerts. Not only does Alerts replace the ECLIPSE feature, it adds new functionality that lets you receive updates from both Shepard’s® and LexisNexis® CourtLink®, as well.
It’s never been this easy to stay current on coverage of your current and prospective clients, relevant businesses, court cases and more. LexisNexis Alerts offers the convenience of news delivered directly to your desktop, as well as coverage from more than 20,000 news sources.
As of August 13, the ALERTS tab appeared at the top of the lexis.com® screen. The LexisNexis Alerts feature provides you:
- More frequency and flexibility — An Alerts update can be delivered up to three times a day, providing you more timely updates to important breaking stories. Choose from the following options:
- 1-3 times a day;
- 1-3 times business days (M-F);
- once a week (on the day and time you choose);
- once a month (on the day you select).
- De-dupe functionality — Check the Do not display duplicate documents and the LexisNexis Service will compare each document as it is retrieved with the other retrieved documents in your answer set. If over 90% of the text is the same, the document will be considered a duplicate and will not be delivered to you.
- Alert “watches” — You can run an Alert even if your initial search doesn’t get results. You’ll know if a particular event occurs in the future, for example, an attorney managing a merger between X and Y companies, You can run an Alert to search news results each day for stories in which the two companies appear, together with the term “merger” to check if news on the merger has leaked out during the “silent period.”
- “No new results” —You will be n otified that the search was run but there were no new results.
