web. Researchers will learn basic search techniques needed to obtain supporting

research using the powerful new SHEPARD'S®

| This class builds on the techniques presented in the introductory class. The instructor
will cover short cuts and more advanced search techniques. Prerequisite:

| LEGISLATIVE HISTORY |
| This
class will demonstrate how to find both federal and state bills by topic,
cite and sponsor. Learn how to efficiently and effectively locate bills,
session laws, current and archived statutes, and current and pending regulations.
You will also learn how to track the legislative history, intent, interpretation
and construction of a proposed bill, statute or regulation. Prerequisite:

basic, essential techniques of searching Public Records on LexisNexis.
Learn how Public Records are organized on LexisNexis and what types of
documents can be obtained. Emphasis: Locating information about people,

Search Directory and Power Searching) to find news and non-legal information

| CITATION CHECKING TOOLS |
| Geared
toward individuals who write or review legal briefs, this course teaches
automatic citation services on Lexis.com. Using the tools covered in the
course, researchers will be able to generate a comprehensive citation
report which: |

Automatically Shepardizes cases and statutes referenced in a brief; |
| 2. |
Automatically checks quotes contained in the brief for accuracy and correct references to the original text of the original document; and |
| 3. |
Creates hyperlinks to the documents referenced in the brief. |
