Federal Judge Dismisses Fair Debt Collection, Invasion Of Privacy Claims

NEWARK, N.J. - A federal judge in New Jersey on Dec. 28 dismissed Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and invasion of privacy claims against a debt collection agency, agreeing with the defendant that the plaintiff made only a conclusory assertion regarding harassment and failed to allege any facts showing the defendant invaded her privacy and that New Jersey law prohibits invasion of privacy claims based on debt collection (Luz M. Tamayo v. American Coradius International, LLC, No. 11-6549, D. N.J.; 2011 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 149124).
