Michaels, Ward & Rabinovitz LLP Named a 'Go-To Law Firm' for Financial Services Companies

CHICAGO – Michelle F. Kantor has joined the Chicago office of McDonald Hopkins LLC as a member in the firm's Business Law Department. Kantor specializes in construction and mechanic's lien law and litigation.
 
For more than 20 years, Kantor has been representing owners, developers, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors, fabricators, suppliers, construction managers, and other commercial businesses. She has extensive experience handling mechanics' liens, warranty and surety claims, design liability, bid protests, change order disputes, delay claims, payment disputes, and other construction-related disputes. In addition, Kantor prepares and negotiates a variety of construction agreements and assists clients with regulatory issues, from building code compliance to licensing. She also assists clients in the application and appeal process for MBE/WBE/DBE certifications.
 
A frequent instructor and speaker nationwide, Kantor is also an arbitrator and trained mediator. She serves on the advisory board for the U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Contractor Development Program; the Chicago Construction & Real Estate Council for City of Hope; the Legal Counsel Forum of the American Council of Engineering Companies, and the BOMA Chicago Building Codes Committee. Kantor is general counsel to the Federation of Women Contractors and has been appointed as an arbitrator to the American Arbitration Association's Complex Construction Claims Panel. She created the Construction and Business Management Training Program for the MGM MIRAGE and Perini Building Company CityCenter Project in Las Vegas, where she is also an instructor.
 
A 1981 graduate of Bradley University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Kantor received her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago Law School in 1987.
