Travis P. Nelson Joins Reed Smith’s Financial Industry Practice in Firm’s Princeton and Philadelphia Offices
(October 27, 2010, Philadelphia, PA) - Reed Smith LLP
continues to expand its Financial Industry Group (FIG) with the addition
of senior associate Travis P. Nelson. He will be resident in both the firm's
Princeton, NJ and Philadelphia, PA offices in FIG's Financial Services
Regulatory Group.
Travis focuses his
practice on serving financial institutions, and other companies,
and their directors and officers, in consumer/regulatory compliance, bank
mergers and acquisitions, enforcement actions, internal investigations, and
defense of financial services class action litigation. In addition, a significant portion of Travis' practice
involves representing institutions and individuals in criminal and regulatory
investigations. Travis is formerly with the Enforcement Division of
the Office of Comptroller of the Currency, the bureau of the U.S. Treasury
Department that regulates national banks. Travis is also an active member
of the ABA'S Banking Law Committee, is a frequent writer and speaker on bank
regulation, and is adjunct faculty at the Villanova University School of Law where he teaches Financial Institutions Regulation.

Travis earned his law degree at The Catholic University
of America in 2001. He received a B.S. in Economics from Villanova University's
School of Business in 1998. Travis is admitted to the Pennsylvania, New
Jersey, New York, Maryland and District of Columbia bars, as well as various
federal courts, and has litigated before the federal Office of Financial
Institutions Adjudication.
