Reed Smith Welcomes Matt Oshinsky as New Corporate Partner in Silicon Valley
Apr. 2011 - Reed Smith has announced the addition of
another experienced corporate attorney to its Silicon Valley office. Matt
Oshinsky joins the firm as a partner after seven years with the Palo Alto
office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where he managed transaction teams for
leading technology companies, as well as numerous other public and
privately-held companies in complex merger, asset sale and divestiture
transactions. For the five years prior to that, Oshinsky was with Menlo Park's
Venture Law Group, where he provided general outside counsel services to dozens
of start-ups.
"Matt is a perfect fit with our teams here in Palo
Alto," says Catharina Min, managing partner of the firm's Silicon Valley
office. "He is an excellent lawyer with tremendous experience in complex
M&A deals, and venture capital/private equity financings and
recapitalizations."
"We are very pleased to welcome such a rising star with a
proven track record," says Silicon Valley partner Rich Scudellari, who is the
Global Chair of the firm's Emerging Growth/Venture Capital Team. "Matt's
arrival augments our transactional capabilities and continues our build-out of
corporate partners with significant ties to the region."
"I am excited to join this growing office, which I see
expanding greatly in the coming years," says Mr. Oshinsky. "With its strong
roots in local and international financing sources, Reed Smith is an excellent
fit with my practice at the start-up end, and the firm's global presence
provides a dynamic platform for representing local and overseas clients
in M&A work."
A graduate of Yale University, Oshinsky began his career
at the White House in 1993, where he served on President Clinton's personnel
staff before taking a position with the State Department in the U.S Agency for
International Development. Oshinsky then obtained his J.D. from the
University of Chicago Law School in 1998.
