There are several recognized exceptions to the running of the statute of limitations. Each will operate to toll the statutory period. They include: (1) equitable tolling under California law; (2) tolling of state causes of action under federal law (28 U.S.C. § 1367(d)); (3) tolling by the commencement of a related class action (''class action tolling''); (4) tolling under the discovery rule doctrine; and (5) tolling under the doctrine of fraudulent concealment (''fraudulent concealment tolling''). Each are discussed in turn.
