Howard Schweitzer, Former TARP COO, Reflects on the TARP Program and the Global Financial Crisis
Howard
Schweitzer of Cozen O'Conner gave the keynote presentation at the HB Litigation
Conferences
seminar titled "Regulation of International Business: Important Considerations
for Insurance & Reinsurance" on Sept. 23, 2010, in Washington, DC. Schweitzer provides strategic advisory
services to U.S. and
multinational clients on a variety of issues involving the U.S.
government. Before joining Cozen,
Schweitzer was COO of the $700 Troubled Asset Relief Program, appointed to that
post by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.
In the following video clips, Schweitzer talks about
what it was like getting started as the TARP COO, what triggered the 2008
financial crisis, the level of oversight applied to TARP, and other issues
connected to the global financial crisis.
The event was chaired by Reka Koerner, Senior Vice
President, Group Legal, Swiss Re and William O'Neill and Jeffrey Snyder of
Crowell & Moring, which hosted the event.
