Air Resources Board to release guide for voluntary GHG emission reductions by small business
The staff of the California Air Resources Board has scheduled a workshop for Dec. 1 (9:30am to 11:30am PST) to preview the "small business toolkit" to assist with facilitating voluntary greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions by small businesses. Information about the workshop, including a webcast link, can be found at http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/localaction/meetings/meetings.htm. The toolkit will include information on cost-saving actions to reduce GHG emissions, incentive programs, case studies, a climate calculator, decision support tools, an award program, and an online peer-networking forum. See http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/localaction/smallbusiness.htm. Although, as noted, there are numerous "tools" to be made available, there is a dirth of detail at this time regarding what each of these tools will actually look like or contain. For those interested in making calculations [probably rather crude] of their carbon footprint, the following tools are available on the internet: http://www.carbonfootprint.com/calculator.aspx, http://www.nature.org/initiatives/climatechange/calculator/, http://www.climatecrisis.net/takeaction/carboncalculator/, and http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/emissions/ind_calculator.html.
