BOSTON - A participant in a group life insurance plan is entitled to benefits, the First Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled Jan. 11, noting that the plan administrator found the participant totally disabled under an individual life insurance plan that was substantially similar and that the administrator failed to inform the participant that his application for a waiver of plan premiums had been denied (Anthony J. Scibelli, et al. v. Prudential Insurance Company of America, No. 11-1372, 1st Cir.; 2012 U.S. App. LEXIS 505). Full story on lexis.com
