NEW ORLEANS - A painter filed a collective action against his employer on Dec. 21, claiming that he and other employees were improperly paid straight time rather than time and a half for hours worked in excess of 40 per week in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (Juan Ortiz, et al. v.
