Federal Judge Dismisses State Law Claims From Debt-Collection Suit
TACOMA, Wash. - A federal judge in Washington on Jan. 25 dismissed without prejudice the state claims in a suit alleging that a debt collection agency's letter caused a consumer "frustration, anxiety and humiliation," finding, among other things, that the consumer has not pleaded that the letter rises to the level of "outrage" (Zachary R. Echlin v. Asset Systems Inc., No. 12-05954, W.D. Wash.; 2013 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 10495).
