Todd J. Janzen represents buyers and sellers of commercial and industrial properties and other business assets in transactional, regulatory compliance and business litigation matters. Todd also assists landowners with cost recovery and environmental clean up efforts. When necessary, Todd will litigate to defend or pursue his client's best interests, believing that a multi-disciplined attorney makes the best attorney.
Todd has a vibrant agricultural law practice. Todd was a founding member and past chair of the Indiana State Bar Association's Agricultural Law Section. In 2008, he was selected by the Indiana Lt. Governor to serve on the Indiana Agricultural Regulatory Structure Task Force. Todd serves as the General Counsel to the Indiana Professional Dairy Producers, an organization representing more than 200 dairy farmers in Indiana. Todd also authors an agricultural law blog, Janzen Ag Law Blog, where he frequently publishes articles about current agricultural law topics. In 2008, Todd successfully defended a 1500 cow dairy farm from a nuisance suit in the published case Lindsey v. DeGroot Dairy, LLC, 898 N.E.2d 1251 (Ind. Ct. App. 2009). In this case, the Indiana Court of Appeals upheld the constitutionality of the Indiana Right to Farm Act.
Todd was named as a Finalist in law for Indy's 2010 Best and Brightest. In 2011, Todd was selected by Super Lawyers as an Indiana "Rising Star." Todd is a frequent author and speaker on agricultural law and commercial real estate topics.
Todd is also actively involved in a number of community organizations, having served as a board member for Trinity Episcopal Church, Morning Dove Therapeutic Riding, Inc., and Mapleton Fall Creek Community Development Corporation, where he is currently the Vice President of the Board. He received his B.A. degrees, summa cum laude, from Bethel College of Kansas in 1995 and his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis in 2002.
