Fix Find a Source.

The algorithm needs to be changed such that if you type in the exact name of a source, that one is at the top. It is maddening to have to search the list when you put in exactly what you wanted correctly.

I would like to see the find a source index or db searched as a phrase rather than as individual words. If is search for Copyright Practitioner, i don't want to get all of the results with copyright in the title. If no results are returned, I would like to get suggestions on other titles or search strategies NOT a thousand hits to cull through.

Also, if there are a lot of search results when searching Find a Source, please PLEASE put the alphabetical order.

Thanks for these ideas, everybody. Although you will often get a large result set when searching in Find a Source, if you know the exact name of the source, you can eliminate a large number of the results by using quotation marks around your search terms. That said, we have documented each of your enhancement requests. The algorithm is intended to sort results by relevancy but we see how this can be difficult to review, especially when you receive 100+ results. We will look into possibly alphabetizing the results after a certain point. Possibly listing the top 10 by relevance and maybe sorting the remainder alphabetically. We will review these ideas as part of the innovation process that we use when determining what to include in upcoming releases.

Oh, absolutely!!! Find a Source borders on useless.  I've had more luck using Google to try to figure out where things are on Lexis.

Your quotes suggestion is very helpful, and I'll keep it in mind, but the relevancy algorithm should be smart enough to know:

Most relevant: exact phrase match

Next: contains all words

Finally: contains some words

The relevancy algorithm should probably also put the broader source matches over the narrower search matches -- when I search for American Jurisprudence I get "American Jurisprudence 2d - Education Law Materials" ahead of "American Jurisprudence 2d", which is absurd.
