LAS VEGAS - The California Cumis counsel standard is applicable to Nevada insurance cases, a Nevada federal judge ruled Dec. 12, finding that an insurer was obligated to appoint independent counsel for its insureds when a conflict of interest over settlement offers arose (Stephen Tanner Hansen, et al. v. State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co, et al., No. 2:10-cv-01434, D. Nev.; 2012 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 176057; See 4/12/12, Page 20).
