Judge Denies Contractor's Request To Dismiss Claims For Lack Of Jurisdiction

NEW ORLEANS - A Louisiana federal judge on Jan. 25 found that the court had jurisdiction over claims asserted by the owner of several rental properties against a contractor for allegedly completing faulty hurricane remediation and repairs, finding that it was not possible to determine with legal certainty the amount in controversy (Beverly Bouligny Powell v. Hunter Jr., d.b.a. Hunter Enterprises, No. 11-1640, E.D. La.; 2012 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 8993).
