Actually, I’m a Jersey girl, even though I’ve lived half my life in California. I have also lived in my three favorite places — New York City, Los Angeles and Kauai, which makes me different from your average Jersey girl. I now live in Santa Cruz, CA, a small community of enterprising and creative professionals who enjoy the culture and the beauty of the Central Coast.
My 22 years of professional experience in law is a unique blend of traditional firm practice in business and real estate transactions and litigation, in-house counsel, negotiating and administrating retail leases for over 350 stores nationwide, and business and real estate entrepreneurship in both Northern and Southern California. For the past year, I was Attorney/Founder of Freelance Law Firm, a virtual-based freelance attorney service, performing legal projects for outsourcing attorneys. During this time, I became involved in the dramatic changes in the legal profession due to technology and the recession. I network, communicate and collaborate with many of the thought leaders in the evolving future of the legal profession, both nationally and internationally. I am a member of the ABA's Law Practice Management Section and elawyering task force, the GP-Solo Division and the Online Bar Association, a growing international network of lawyers seeking to create a new culture of collaboration among lawyers.
In July 2010, I founded Law Practice Strategy, a coaching and training service and resource hub for new or unemployed lawyers seeking to start-up a solo or small firm practice. LPS is a dynamic venture and website that offers on-going updates, resources, coaching and educational services why and how to use Legal Project Management, Alternative Fee Arrangements, virtual law platforms, web 2.0 tools and content marketing systems for successful law practice design. By viewing these practice solutions as an integrated whole, where each enables the other, a strategy of how they work together to create a successful practice begins to emerge.
My articles have been published in ALM's Legal Technology Newsletter, TechnoLawyer and ABA's GP-Solo Magazine.
