Yan is a Root-Tilden-Kern public interest scholar and a Housing and Urban Policy Scholar at NYU Law School. She completed her B.A. at Stanford, and began working with Building a Better Legal Profession as an undergraduate there. Before attending law school she worked in the Rackets Bureau of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office where she sat on the Diversity Committee, and at the New York City Commission on Human Rights.
