Tennessee Court Allows State To Intervene In 'Impoverishment' Suit

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The Tennessee Court of Appeals at Knoxville on Feb. 22 found that the state's Department of Human Services, manager of the state's Medicaid program, should have been allowed to intervene in a "spousal impoverishment" action between spouses seeking to impoverish the husband, a nursing home resident, and enrich the wife by transferring the family residence and all of the husband's income so that she may live within her means (Carol Crisel v. Thomas Crisel, No. E2010-02042-COA-R3-CV, Tenn. App., at Knoxville; 2012 Tenn. App. LEXIS 109). Full story on lexis.com
