Federal Judge Allows FTC Suit Against Check Processor To Continue

LAS VEGAS - A federal judge in Nevada on March 1 denied consumer check processor Elite Debit Inc.'s motion for summary judgment, disagreeing with Elite Debit's argument that the Federal Trade Commission inappropriately seeks to find the check processor liable for others' wrongdoings and that the Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA) does not govern its transactions (Federal Trade Commission v.
